The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has presented a landmark ₦1.7 trillion appropriation bill for the 2026 fiscal year, representing a 63% increase from the 2025 budget. Tagged “Budget of Sustainable Legacy,” the proposal allocates ₦624.76 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦1.044 trillion for capital projects.
Governor Abiodun highlighted funding expectations of ₦509.88 billion from IGR and ₦554.81 billion from federal allocations, with additional ₦518.90 billion projected from loans and grants. Infrastructure takes the largest share at ₦526.15 billion (32%), followed by Education with ₦275.40 billion and Health with ₦210.59 billion.
The governor said the budget is designed to complete ongoing projects, boost employment, strengthen revenue, and align with both state and national development plans. He noted that Ogun’s GDP has risen to ₦17 trillion, with IGR projected to hit ₦250 billion in 2025.
