Dangote Refinery Supplied Just 34% of National Petrol Needs in October

Nigeria’s fuel demand outpaced domestic supply in October 2025, with the Dangote Refinery providing only 34.15% of the country’s daily petrol consumption, according to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The fact sheet revealed that the refinery supplied 17.1 million litres of petrol daily, while imports accounted for 27.6 million litres, pushing total consumption to 56.7 million litres—a 31.86% rise from September figures.

Between October 2024 and October 2025, Nigeria averaged 661.5 million litres monthly consumption, with Dangote contributing an average of 18.03 million litres per day. The report also showed diesel consumption at 17.13 million litres and aviation fuel at 2.61 million litres in October.

Authorities say the verified data highlights Nigeria’s ongoing transition toward greater domestic production and reduced dependence on imports. Meanwhile, in November, the Dangote Refinery reported supplying 45 million litres to the market.
