Northern CAN Mourns Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, Hails His Legacy of Peace

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Northern Nigeria has mourned the passing of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who died on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 98.

In a condolence statement, Northern CAN Chairman Rev. Joseph John Hayab described the scholar as a spiritual and moral beacon whose teachings fostered peace, humility, and interfaith respect. Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s lifelong dedication to Qur’anic education and ethical guidance shaped generations and strengthened social harmony across Northern Nigeria.

Hayab called on Nigerians to uphold the values the late cleric championed, especially during rising religious tensions and insecurity, urging interfaith dialogue and unity. CAN extended condolences to Sheikh Bauchi’s family, the Tijjaniyya movement, the Bauchi Emirate, and the Muslim community nationwide, emphasizing that continuing his legacy of peace and tolerance is the most fitting tribute.
