President Bola Tinubu has approved the constitution of Nigeria’s delegation to the US-Nigeria Joint Working Group, a strategic step aimed at strengthening bilateral efforts against security threats.
A statement from presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga confirmed that the decision follows the recent high-level visit to Washington, D.C., led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
Ribadu will head the Nigerian team, supported by senior officials across key ministries and security agencies. Members include Ministers Yusuf Maitama Tuggar (Foreign Affairs), Mohammed Badaru Abubakar (Defence), Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (Interior), Bernard M. Doro (Humanitarian Affairs), as well as the Chief of Defence Staff, the DG of NIA, and the Inspector General of Police.
Ms Idayat Hassan and Mr Paul Alabi will serve as secretariat representatives.
Tinubu urged the team to work closely with their US counterparts to ensure seamless execution of all security agreements.
