The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has openly rebuked a Federal Fire Service officer after discovering that a fire truck meant for emergency response had only a half-filled water tank. The Minister, visibly displeased, described the excuse given by the officer as unacceptable, especially during the harmattan period when fire incidents are more frequent and severe.
He stressed that firefighters, funded by taxpayers, must remain fully equipped and strategically positioned for emergencies at all times.
Tunji-Ojo also ordered the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board to immediately fix the recruitment portal challenges preventing applicants from checking their application status.
