At least eight residents have been abducted in a late-night attack on Biresawa village in Tsanyawa LGA of Kano State, deepening fear across neighbouring communities. Witnesses said the attackers, heavily armed, stormed the area around midnight, taking two men and six women. A relative of some victims, Kabiru Usman, said the bandits approached from Tsundu village and overpowered locals attempting to resist.

Other communities — Sarmawa, Yan Chibi, and Gano — were also raided the same night, with over 10 women reportedly taken from Yan Chibi alone. Residents said more than 50 motorcycle-riding bandits invaded with gunfire, forcing families to flee. Vigilantes and locals had earlier alerted security agencies after detecting unusual movement, but the bandits escaped into Katsina State after the abductions.

Police confirmed the incident, stating investigations are ongoing.
