IPOB Blasts Orji Kalu, Denies Claim Linking Nnamdi Kanu to 30,000 Deaths

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly rejected former Abia State governor Orji Uzor Kalu’s claim that Nnamdi Kanu’s activism caused the death of 30,000 people in the Southeast.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB described Kalu’s remark as false, malicious, and politically motivated.

The group insisted that insecurity and killings in the region were orchestrated by the government and some Eastern politicians to discredit both IPOB and the Eastern Security Network. IPOB maintained that its movement has remained non-violent, while its members have consistently faced arrests, torture, and extrajudicial killings.

The group also accused Kalu of collaborating with federal authorities in the detention of Kanu and referenced past allegations about his role during his tenure as governor. IPOB renewed its call for an independent investigation into violence in the Southeast.
