In a swift diplomatic move, Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Johannesburg on Sunday for Luanda, Angola, where he will represent President Bola Tinubu at the 7th AU-EU Summit.
Shettima’s trip follows the conclusion of his engagements at the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit in South Africa, where he equally stood in for the President.
According to a statement issued by his Media Assistant, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President will join Heads of State and Government from both the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) for high-level deliberations scheduled for November 24–25, 2025.
The meeting is expected to gather young innovators, emerging leaders, and civil society groups to tackle shared developmental challenges between Africa and Europe. Key issues on the table include climate change, inclusive development, infrastructure expansion, digital economy growth, and boosting the creative industry, manufacturing, and agribusiness sectors.
Nkwocha added that the Vice President is expected to return to Nigeria immediately after the summit wraps up.
