The Margi ethnic group in Adamawa State has introduced a national attire, symbolizing unity and cultural pride. The unveiling took place at Ribadu Square, Yola, on Saturday, attracting various dignitaries including Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who hails from the Margi community in Madagali Local Government Area. Governor Fintiri was a central figure at the event and received special recognition.
The occasion was graced by traditional rulers, political leaders, and representatives from neighboring ethnic groups, serving as both a cultural festivity and a personal reflection for the governor on his heritage and leadership journey. In his speech, Governor Fintiri expressed gratitude and pride in his Margi roots, highlighting the community’s values of courage, hard work, and resilience, which he credits for shaping his character.
He introduced the new Margi National Attire as a representation of identity, pride, and continuity with ancestral traditions, including garments like pizhi, dzar, and gumbara. He urged Margi people globally to wear the attire with pride.
