APC Installs New Executives in Ibadan

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North West local government area of Oyo State have opposed the extended tenure of the acting chairman, Mr. Olusola Tokunbo Adekanbi.

On Thursday, party members unanimously urged the acting chairman and his team to vacate their positions, allowing the elected chairman, Jelili Asukuna, and other elected officials to assume their rightful roles.

This decision was made during an emergency meeting in Ibadan, attended by hundreds of party members from the eleven electoral wards within the local government area.

A party chieftain from the local government area, Mr. Adekunle Abass Akande, who initiated the motion, stated that the decision was made to address problems facing the party in the local government area.

While addressing journalists during the meeting, Akande remarked, “We will all benefit from this party. We are here to find solutions to the problems affecting us. We will not allow them. How can we also benefit?”

“We want the elected executives to occupy their rightful positions. Those currently ruling are not the authentic executives. We want the authentic and recognized chairman and all other executive members to take over.”

“We want the current acting chairman to step aside. On this note, we have taken a position that they should step aside. We resolved that all the authentic executives come to their positions. We elected them, and they are recognized by the party at the national level. There is no crisis here.”

A former leader of the Ibadan North West local government legislative arm, Remi Ajanaku, noted that the action was necessary to restore sanity within the political party.

He stated, “Our resolution today is that we have asked the acting chairman to step aside and allow the authentic chairman to take over. We have taken the decision today.”

“We did this in order to restore sanity in the political party. There are some illegal things happening, and we want to correct them.”
