Niger Police Nab Ten in Crime Crackdown

The Niger Police Force has successfully arrested ten suspects linked to armed robbery, thuggery, and the possession of dangerous weapons and cattle rustling across different areas of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, revealed in a statement that these arrests were made during distinct operations carried out by police surveillance units and operatives from the Tudun-Wada Division and Central Police Division in Minna.

Abiodun detailed that two suspects, Habibu Isyaku, aged 20, and Musa Yakubu, aged 18, were intercepted by officers on a motorcycle near the Western Bye-Pass on November 17, 2025.

A locally made firearm was confiscated from the duo, who were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for their activities.

The suspects have been formally charged with criminal conspiracy, thuggery, and possession of dangerous weapons and illicit substances.

In a separate operation on November 14, 2025, five additional suspects were apprehended in a sting operation targeting known black spots in Sayako, Tudun-Natsira, Abdul Salam Quarters, and Baida.

The suspects, identified as Abdullahi Sani, 27, Mohammed Inuwa, 21, Abbas Yahaya, 25, Abdulrahman Ismail, 29, and Mohammed Abubakar, 28, were caught with suspected cannabis, a sharp knife, a long saw blade, and other illicit substances.

Furthermore, the PRO disclosed that three individuals were arrested for receiving and selling suspected stolen cattle.

The suspects, Naziru Mustapha, 25, Husseini Abubakar, 30, and Kabiru Magaji, 40, were linked to the theft of cows from the Ibeto area of Magama LGA.

“Eight cows have been recovered from them, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend two additional suspects, Bashar Sani and Ibrahim Tasiu, who remain at large,” Abiodun added.

The police are actively continuing their investigations to identify further receivers and recover additional rustled cattle.
