VP Shettima Visits Kebbi After Schoolgirls’ Abduction

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Kebbi State to meet with state government officials and families of the abducted schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.

According to DAILY POST, the aircraft carrying Shettima landed at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi.

Shettima was accompanied by the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Zubaida Umar, along with other government officials.

Having departed Abuja on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, Shettima is expected to convey Tinubu’s message to the state and receive a detailed briefing on the situation for further communication to the President.

It is important to recall that the attack on the Kebbi school resulted in the death of the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, who was reportedly killed while attempting to stop the bandits from abducting the girls.

Meanwhile, the police announced on Monday that a combined tactical team has been deployed to comb the forests in an effort to rescue the girls.

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families affected. He has also postponed his scheduled visits to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, where he was to attend the 20th G20 Summit of leaders and the 7th AU-EU Summit, respectively.
