Saudi Interest Remains Significant
James shared with GOAL that a potential exit remains possible if Salah’s performance falls below Liverpool’s expectations or if an enticing offer arrives.
He emphasized that both the club and Salah would make any decision collaboratively, underscoring that Salah would not stay merely to fulfill his contract.
James noted that an extraordinary bid from Saudi Arabia, a likely source of significant financial proposals, could compel Liverpool to reconsider, regardless of Salah’s importance to the team.
Contingency Plans in Place
James also indicated that Liverpool is preparing for such eventualities with a succession plan. He highlighted the club’s strategy to have a ready-made successor.
At 33, Salah’s fitness remains top-tier. James cited Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as examples to assert that Salah still has several productive years ahead.
Increased opposition pace, he argued, is a more realistic concern than any decline in Salah’s physical abilities.
While Salah is anticipated to complete his current contract and a decade at Anfield, James insists that Liverpool could still secure a significant transfer fee if they decide to sell in upcoming windows.
