Wike’s PDP Faction Expels Top Leaders

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crisis intensified on Tuesday as the faction loyal to Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, confirmed the expulsion of several senior figures.

The factional National Executive Committee (NEC) stated that the decision followed heightened tensions after Saturday’s disputed national convention in Ibadan.

Governors and Top Party Leaders Removed

During its meeting in Abuja, the Wike-backed NEC ratified the expulsion of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, and Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.

Additionally, former Board of Trustees Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara, former National Vice Chairman Bode George, and the newly elected National Chairman Kabiru Turaki, SAN, were expelled.

The move followed days after Wike and his loyalists were expelled by the rival camp during the Ibadan convention.

The factions clashed at the party’s national secretariat in Wadata Plaza, Abuja, where they held parallel NEC and Board of Trustees meetings.

Six State Executives Dissolved

The factional NEC also dissolved party executive councils in Oyo, Bauchi, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, and Ekiti States.

It directed the formation of caretaker committees and ordered fresh congresses across the affected states.

NEC Lists Names Facing Fresh Disciplinary Action

A communiqué read by the factional National Secretary Senator Sam Anyanwu revealed that Acting National Chairman Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed reported multiple breaches of Articles 58(1) and 59(1).

He accused members of anti-party activities, disobeying court orders, and conduct that brought the party into disrepute.

The communiqué stated that disciplinary steps would begin against the following: Adolphus Wabara, Olabode George, Ben N. Obi, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, Bala Mohammed, Oluseyi Makinde, Dauda Lawal, Taofiq Arapaja, Setonji Koshoedo, Okechukwu Obiechina Daniel, Woyengikuro Daniel, Mohammed Kadade Suleiman, Emmanuel Ogidi, Sumaila Adamu Burga, Umar Sani, Udom Emmanuel, and Emmanuel Enorden.

The Peoples Democratic Party crisis remained unresolved, with both factions insisting on their own leadership structures and decisions.
