Gift Monday Shines as Washington Spirit Reach NWSL Final

Super Falcons forward Gift Monday played a pivotal role in Washington Spirit’s victory over Portland Thorns, securing a spot in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Championship final.

Monday netted the opening goal for Washington Spirit in the 23rd minute, marking her 12th goal in the NWSL this season. The 24-year-old has also contributed to her team’s success with one goal in the CONCACAF Women’s Cup and two assists.

Croix Bethune added to the scoreline, securing the second goal for Spirit six minutes before the final whistle.

Fellow Nigerian international, Deborah Abiodun, participated as a substitute, replacing Leicy Santos 18 minutes before the end of the match.
