Unidentified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted former Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Sise, in Boriya–Shiya Ward, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State. The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Thursday.
State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, stated on Friday afternoon that he was not yet aware of the incident but assured that an investigation would be launched. The attack is said to have taken place around midnight when the kidnappers infiltrated the compound, discharging several gunshots into the air to intimidate residents.
According to locals, one of Sise’s sons was intercepted by the kidnappers while returning home late at night. Under duress, he was forced to call his father, who then opened the door, allowing the assailants to enter and abduct him. The family members left behind were unharmed.
By morning, bullet shells and live rounds were reportedly found scattered around the compound, corroborating accounts of multiple gunshots fired to discourage resistance. Residents described the ordeal as brief but terrifying, with the gunmen fleeing shortly after.
The local vigilante team in Boriya was immediately alerted and has commenced a search of the surrounding areas to track down the attackers and rescue the victim. As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of Sise remain unknown.
