England star Raheem Sterling and his family are safe after burglars broke into their home in Berkshire on Saturday evening while they were inside.
The terrifying incident happened just before Chelsea’s Premier League match against Wolves, a game Sterling did not take part in as he was not included in the squad. The forward was at home with his partner, Paige Milian, and their children when the break-in occurred.
In a statement released after the incident, a representative for Sterling said, “Whilst the ultimate violation of privacy and safety, we are thankful to be able to confirm that he and his loved ones are all safe.”
Police have opened an investigation into the burglary, which took place at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said, “We are investigating a burglary at around 6.30pm on Saturday. Officers are conducting a thorough investigation and ask anyone with information, or if they saw anyone in the area acting suspiciously, to contact police.”
This is not the first time the England forward has been targeted by burglars. During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Sterling was forced to leave England’s camp after his family home was robbed. Two years earlier, in 2020, three men were jailed for a string of burglaries targeting wealthy individuals, including the footballer himself.
Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 and spent last season on loan at Arsenal. After a failed move away during the summer transfer window, he has been training away from the first team and is yet to feature for the Blues this season.
