Davido’s ‘5ive Tour’ Stop in Enugu Descends into Mayhem as Fans Report Overcrowding and Robberies
A highly anticipated concert by Afrobeat superstar Davido at Michael Okpara Square in Enugu turned into a scene of chaos and distress for attendees this past Saturday night. The event, part of his ongoing “5ive Tour,” was marred by severe overcrowding, alleged theft, and security failures.
Reports from the scene indicate that the 20,000-capacity venue was overwhelmed by a massive crowd. Witnesses stated that gates were broken down, allowing a huge number of people without tickets to force their way in, leading to a dangerous and unmanageable situation.
Fans have since taken to social media to share harrowing accounts of their experiences. Many detailed how touts infiltrated the concert, stealing valuables like phones, wallets, and even wigs directly from attendees in the packed crowd. Several accounts, including one from a tearful TikTok user, described a complete lack of adequate security, leaving fans vulnerable.
Further complaints highlighted that the singer did not appear on stage until around 3 a.m., a significant delay from the advertised start time. During the long wait and ensuing chaos, many attendees, particularly women, reported being groped and harassed as people struggled for space and air.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage online, with fans and commentators calling for greater accountability from event organizers and condemning the apparent failure in crowd control and safety measures.
