PDP Plunges Into Deeper Crisis As Party Suspends Wike’s Allies

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of top-ranking National Working Committee (NWC) members believed to be allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The decision was reached during the 608th NWC meeting held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, as part of efforts to address deepening internal divisions ahead of the party’s planned national convention.

Ologunagba noted that the suspension will last one month, and the affected officials have been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for further action.

“During this period of suspension, they cease to function in their respective capacities. The Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Arc. Setonji Koshoedo, shall act as the National Secretary in line with Section 36(2) of our party’s constitution,” he said.

He added that the National Director of Legal Services will temporarily oversee the legal department in the absence of the suspended legal officers.

The suspension comes amid renewed tension within the PDP following a Federal High Court order halting the party’s national convention slated for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, over unresolved delegate and leadership disputes.

Reacting to the ruling, Ologunagba said the party would appeal the judgment, emphasizing that preparations for the convention remain on track.

“The PDP respects the judiciary, but we will challenge this ruling at the appellate court. Our preparations for the national convention remain on course,” he affirmed.
