“Name Those Who Pressured You to Join APC” — Plateau APC Dares Governor Mutfwang

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has challenged Governor Caleb Mutfwang to publicly name those who allegedly pressured him to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the ruling APC.

Naija News recalls that Governor Mutfwang had recently claimed during a public event that some individuals within the APC had approached him to defect from the PDP, stating that he resisted the move and would only switch parties if “God and the people” approved.

“It is not a lie that they also put pressure on me. But I told them that only two people would authorise me to change parties — one is the God of heaven, and the other is you, the people,” the governor had said.

Reacting to the governor’s remarks, the APC Acting Publicity Secretary in Plateau State, Shittu Bamaiyi, described Mutfwang’s comments as unnecessary political drama, insisting that the governor should be bold enough to identify those who allegedly pressured him.

“If Governor Mutfwang meant well for his supporters and the entire state, he should courageously tell the people who pressured him to defect to the APC,” Bamaiyi said.

He further noted that the entire conversation about the governor’s potential defection wouldn’t have surfaced if his administration had performed to the satisfaction of the people of Plateau State.

“Whatever may be the case, it’s a big minus on the part of a sitting governor for an opposition party to openly object to his joining, when that same party’s ultimate goal is to win elections,” Bamaiyi added.

The statement has sparked renewed political tension in Plateau, as both the APC and PDP continue to trade words ahead of future elections.
