Theo Walcott Hails Gyokeres as Arsenal’s Secret Weapon for Champions League Glory

Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has lauded Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres for his dynamic performances and influence on the team’s attacking play, describing him as a player who “creates havoc” for defenders.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, Walcott said Gyokeres’ impact goes far beyond scoring goals, emphasizing his work rate and ability to elevate the performance of others around him.

Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting CP during the summer transfer window and has already scored three goals for the North London side.

“A lot of people spoke about him not scoring a lot of goals,” Walcott told Metro UK.
“But for me, he is creating havoc, creating chances for other people, and getting the best out of other players.”

Walcott, who represented Arsenal between 2006 and 2018, believes that Gyokeres’ physical presence and tactical awareness could make a crucial difference in European competitions, particularly as Arsenal aim to make a deep run in the Champions League.

“I think the Premier League is different,” Walcott added.
“The Champions League is where Arsenal want to achieve, and he could well be the difference — just by occupying defences differently.”

Gyokeres’ arrival has given Arsenal more attacking depth under manager Mikel Arteta, with fans and analysts alike tipping him to become a key figure in the club’s pursuit of silverware this season.
