A heartbreaking incident has left many in shock as a 39-year-old Nigerian man, identified as Chukwuemeka Aniawona, reportedly died just hours before he was scheduled to board his flight.
The tragic event was shared by a social media user, Candy, on X (formerly Twitter), who claimed the man’s lifeless body was discovered along Airport Road in what appeared to be a hit-and-run accident.
According to her post, Chukwuemeka was meant to check in for his EgyptAir flight around 2 p.m. but was found dead earlier that morning. His personal belongings, including his international passport and scattered clothes, were spotted at the scene.
Candy further revealed that his phone was missing, suggesting that it might have been stolen after the accident.
“I saw a male body lying lifeless today on Airport Road. It was likely a hit-and-run incident. He was to check in for his flight due for takeoff at 2 p.m. via EgyptAir. His phone wasn’t in sight, so it must’ve been stolen,” she wrote.
She added that the man’s backpack was torn, his clothes scattered, and vehicle scraps from the collision were also found nearby.
Chukwuemeka’s passport, which surfaced online, showed that he was born on October 27, 1985, and hailed from Aba in Nigeria’s South East region.
The tragic story has since sparked emotional reactions across social media, with many Nigerians mourning the unfortunate loss and calling for better road safety and security around airport routes.
