South African Grammy-winning DJ and record producer, Black Coffee, has declared that he has no intention of getting married again.
The father of four made this revelation during a recent episode of Podcast and Chill, where he spoke candidly about his past experiences, family influence, and the pressures that come with fame.
According to Black Coffee, his decision stems from a deeper understanding of himself and the societal expectations that once shaped his choices.
“I won’t get married again. I’m clear about that because I am now in a better space in understanding who I am. I also understand the kind of pressure society puts you in without ever backing you up,” he said.
The award-winning DJ further disclosed that his parents had pressured him into marriage after he found success in his music career.
“With my career, especially because it wasn’t so obvious — meaning I wasn’t going to get a degree and become a lawyer. It was very unclear, but as soon as it popped, everyone was wowed. I bought my first house and car, and they [my parents] were like, ‘When are you getting a wife?’”
Black Coffee, who separated from his ex-wife, actress Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, in 2019 following an alleged infidelity scandal, said that he now values his peace and individuality more than societal approval.
Their marriage produced two children, while Black Coffee has two other children from previous relationships. He emphasized that staying single allows him to stay focused on his career and personal growth.
