TROOPS RAID BANDITS’ HIDEOUT IN PLATEAU, RECOVER HEAVY WEAPONS CACHE

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, have recorded another major success in the ongoing fight against banditry in Plateau State.

In a statement released by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for Operation ENDURING PEACE, the troops raided the hideout of a notorious bandit located at Rawaya Village, near Kazok in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

According to the statement, the operation was launched following credible intelligence reports that the criminals had been stockpiling arms and ammunition in the area. Upon sighting the advancing troops, the suspect reportedly fled the scene, abandoning his weapons.

A detailed search of the hideout led to the discovery of a cache of arms, including two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, a revolver pistol, four AK-47 magazines, three G3 magazines, 1,198 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, four rounds of 7.62mm (NATO), as well as three mobile phones and other sundry items.

Major Zhakom noted that all recovered items are in safe custody for further investigation. He added that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect and his accomplices, assuring that Operation ENDURING PEACE remains committed to restoring calm and order in the region.

“Operation ENDURING PEACE will remain decisive in its onslaught against criminal elements, while efforts to keep the Joint Operations Area safe will also be sustained,” the statement affirmed.
