The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has addressed concerns surrounding the delayed payment of the Ration Cash Allowance (RCA) to some Nigerian soldiers involved in anti-terrorism operations, attributing the issue to a “system glitch.”
Speaking in Abuja during a press briefing on Thursday, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Magnus Kangye, clarified that the delay was not caused by negligence or misconduct from field commanders or the military high command.
The RCA, a crucial allowance designed to support soldiers’ feeding and welfare during active field duties, had reportedly not reached some troops on time, raising questions about soldiers’ welfare in the frontline.
Kangye assured the public that the necessary approvals for payment had already been made by military authorities, emphasizing that no commander is withholding funds meant for their personnel.
He reiterated that the welfare of soldiers remains a top priority for the Armed Forces, adding that troops would not be left to go hungry while risking their lives for national security.
“Personnel welfare is paramount to us. The delay is purely a technical issue and has already been addressed,” Kangye stated.
