Gunmen Kill Police Officer During Attack on Delta Council Chairman’s Residence

Gunmen stormed the residence of Honourable Dagidi Andaye, Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council in Delta State, in the early hours of Monday, leaving tragedy in their wake.

The attackers murdered Inspector O. O. Ojonogba of PMF 51, popularly known as “Ade,” who was on duty at the time of the incident. Reports revealed that the officer was asleep in the lounge when the gunmen struck, shooting him fatally in the neck.

Chairman Andaye was away on official duties in Asaba, leaving behind his children and the late officer when the attack occurred.

According to the Chairman’s Special Assistant on Security, Obasanjo Zuokumor, the gunmen gained entry around 3–4 a.m. through the generator powerhouse. They broke into the premises and headed straight to the officer’s quarters before proceeding into the main house.

Inside, the attackers demanded money and jewelry, firing shots into the ceiling and walls in search of the council chairman, whom they suspected was hiding. They eventually carted away phones, two iPads, and a laptop before fleeing the scene.

The incident has left residents in deep shock, with many calling for urgent security reinforcements in the area.

Authorities are yet to confirm if arrests have been made as investigations continue.
