There was tension at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday night after two Endeavor Air planes, a subsidiary of Delta Airlines, collided on the runway.
How It Happened
According to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the incident occurred at 9:58 pm local time (0158 GMT Thursday) when one jet was landing and the other was preparing for takeoff.
The wing of the departing plane bound for Roanoke, Virginia, reportedly struck the fuselage of the arriving aircraft, resulting in visible damage to the nose of one of the jets.
Injuries Reported
The Port Authority confirmed that one individual was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while Delta reported a minor injury to a flight attendant.
In total, 93 passengers and crew were on board the two aircraft at the time of the collision.
No Major Disruptions
Despite the scare, airport operations were not interrupted, and flights continued normally. Delta described the event as a “low-speed collision during taxi” and pledged to work with authorities to review safety measures.
