Independence Day: Wike Declares Abuja One of Nigeria’s Safest Cities at 65th Anniversary

As Nigeria marked its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has declared Abuja as one of the safest and most peaceful places to live in the country.

Speaking during the anniversary celebrations, Wike attributed the capital city’s security success to a strong collaboration between the government and residents, who he praised for their commitment to peace and vigilance.

Despite insecurity challenges across several regions of Nigeria, the minister said the FCT continues to stand out as a model of unity, peace, and safety.

“Residents have remained intentional about living together in peace and harmony in spite of a few distractions. Consequently, the FCT has become one of the most peaceful places to reside in the entire country,” Wike affirmed.

The Minister commended Abuja residents for cooperating with security agencies, reporting suspicious movements, and supporting government efforts in maintaining law and order.

He urged continued vigilance, stressing that security is a shared responsibility between citizens and government.

Wike further noted that Abuja’s record proves that progress and safety are achievable when there is collective effort.

“As we mark 65 years of nationhood, let us look forward with renewed hope. The FCT will continue to remain the symbol of our unity, our resilience, and now, one of the safest places to call home in Nigeria,” he assured.
