The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has officially endorsed All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and current Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, ahead of the February 21, 2026 AMAC Council Election.
Wike described Maikalangu as a grassroots leader who has consistently championed the development of local communities in Abuja, urging residents to repay his good works by returning him to office.
The endorsement was made during the flag-off of the Bill Clinton Drive–Tunga Madaki access road project, which includes a four-span bridge. Wike praised Maikalangu for persistently lobbying for the Tunga Madaki community, ensuring they were remembered in FCT development plans.
“One good turn deserves another. Maikalangu has been instrumental in reminding me of the needs of his people, and today we are flagging off this road project because of his efforts,” Wike said.
The minister also assured residents that by June 2026, President Bola Tinubu would be on ground to inaugurate the road project, shortly after the council election.
“Remember the man who remembered you during the rainy season,” Wike added, highlighting that Maikalangu’s record distinguishes him from past AMAC leaders.
Wike’s open support is expected to boost the APC candidate’s chances as campaigns heat up ahead of the 2026 Abuja area council polls.
