Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has rewarded Mrs. Marbel Ijeoma Duaka, a dedicated health worker from Anambra State, with a fully furnished two-bedroom house for her exceptional service and courage throughout the Boko Haram insurgency.
The presentation took place on Tuesday, October 7, in Mafa Local Government Area, where the governor hailed Mrs. Duaka as a “symbol of loyalty and compassion.”
Governor Zulum disclosed that Mrs. Duaka has served at the Mafa Primary Healthcare Centre for over 24 years without ever leaving her duty post — even during the height of the insurgency when many residents fled the area.
“She has been working here for more than 24 years and never left Mafa for a single month. During the Boko Haram crisis, most people fled, but she stayed, serving our people faithfully despite being a non-indigene,” Zulum said.
The governor further revealed that Mrs. Duaka’s service had personally impacted his family. “She has treated most of my family members, including my mother,” he added.
In addition to the house gift, Governor Zulum also offered automatic employment to her son, Anthony, a Banking and Finance graduate, at Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri, in appreciation of the family’s sacrifice and unwavering commitment to humanity.
