Zamfara Police Secure Freedom of 17 Kidnap Victims Held for Months in Bandits’ Den

The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of 17 kidnapped victims, including 14 women and three men, who had been held captive for several months by suspected bandits.

According to police sources, the victims were among those abducted on June 19 at Birdigau village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. They regained their freedom on Friday around 8:30 a.m. after a coordinated operation by security operatives in the region.

Following their release, police personnel were swiftly deployed to the area to secure and evacuate the victims. They were later transported to the Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, Zamfara State, for thorough medical examination under tight security measures.

The Chairman of Gusau Local Government Area, Abubakar Imam, personally supervised the evacuation and ensured that the victims received immediate medical attention.

Authorities have confirmed that once the medical checks are completed, the rescued individuals will be reunited with their families in Katsina State.

The Zamfara Police Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining ongoing operations aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts and ensuring the total restoration of peace and security across the North-West region.
