Veteran Nigerian actor Yemi Solade has raised eyebrows by questioning how some actresses claim ownership of luxury cars like the G-Wagon. In a recent interview on the Honest Bunch podcast, Solade stated that earnings from acting alone are insufficient to cover such extravagant purchases.
The actor elaborated that the Nigerian film industry does not yield enough financial returns for any actress to buy a G-Wagon strictly from acting jobs. He emphasized that only those with additional streams of income or business ventures could afford such expensive vehicles.
Solade expressed skepticism about the financial viability of relying solely on acting for luxury purchases, stating, “No actress can come out and say she bought her G-Wagon strictly from the money she made through acting. The earnings from Nollywood are not enough to cover such a luxury purchase. Acting alone cannot provide that kind of money unless the person has other sources of income or investments outside of movies.”
Additionally, he shared that his perspective on the industry shifted in 2013 after an experience that made him uncomfortable with how church activities were managed.
