In a bold statement that has reignited global football debates, Al-Nassr captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, has declared that winning the World Cup should not determine who is regarded as football’s Greatest of All Time (GOAT).
The Portuguese superstar made this known during an exclusive chat with Piers Morgan Uncensored, emphasizing that greatness in football goes far beyond one tournament.
“It’s not a dream for me to win the World Cup. To define what? To define if I’m one of the best in history? To win one competition with six or seven games? You think it’s fair?” Ronaldo questioned.
At 40 years old, Ronaldo has lifted almost every major trophy in world football — including five UEFA Champions League titles, European Championship (Euro 2016), and multiple Ballon d’Ors — yet the World Cup remains elusive.
Despite that, the football icon insists that his legacy and accomplishments speak for themselves, arguing that a single tournament shouldn’t determine a player’s greatness.
Football pundits and fans have since flooded social media with reactions, with many agreeing that consistency, longevity, and impact define true greatness — not just a single trophy.
