The Social Integrity Network (SINET), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) committed to equity, social justice, and economic development, has commended the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, for her outstanding initiatives that align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
At a press briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday, SINET’s National Coordinator, Dalhatu Issah, applauded the Minister’s dedication to fostering peace, unity, growth, and inclusiveness among women across Nigeria since assuming office in October 2024. He noted that Sulaiman-Ibrahim’s efforts have elevated the Ministry of Women Affairs through innovation, transparency, and impactful service delivery.
Trailblazing Achievements in Office
Issah stated that Hajia Sulaiman-Ibrahim has proven herself to be “hardworking, intelligent, and patriotic,” demonstrating an uncommon commitment to national development.
Among her notable accomplishments are:
- Hosting a high-level consultative meeting with former Women Affairs Ministers to unify institutional wisdom and strategic direction.
- Leading Nigeria’s delegation to the 69th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in March 2025, reaffirming Nigeria’s leadership on global gender advocacy.
- Convening the Maiden Town Hall and Citizens’ Engagement on May 29, 2025, where nearly 1,000 women from diverse backgrounds rallied in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
- Distributing palliatives and solar systems during her First 100 Days in Office to ease economic hardship and improve energy access for vulnerable women’s groups.
Women’s Empowerment and Economic Impact
The SINET coordinator emphasized that the Ministry under her watch has made significant progress in expanding economic opportunities for women. Initiatives include:
- Reaching 30,000 women across 18 states and the FCT with palliatives and livelihood support under the Renewed Hope Food Intervention.
- Establishing a Rice Processing Centre in Niger State under the Nigeria for Women Project, benefiting over 1,500 rural women in agro-enterprise development.
- Collaborating with the Department of State Services (DSS) to train widows of fallen personnel in vocational and agro-processing skills.
- Partnering with Wema Bank Plc. through the MOWA–SARA Programme to empower over 500 women with training in tailoring, catering, and hairdressing.
She was also lauded for supporting the Super Falcons, whose performance secured victory at the 13th African Women Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Vote of Confidence in the Minister
SINET expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for appointing a Minister “with a human face and genuine national interest.” The group unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence on Hajia Sulaiman-Ibrahim and called on stakeholders to support her vision.
“We appeal to all stakeholders in the Nigeria Project to be forward-looking and join Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim in consolidating and sustaining the good work she is delivering for the nation,” Issah said.
