The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has pledged to continue challenging his political adversaries, ensuring they experience sleepless nights.
This declaration was made on Thursday during a media briefing following the FCT Executive Committee meeting.
Wike emphasized that his opponents, whether from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), or the African Democratic Congress (ADC), would face continuous challenges as long as he operates within the bounds of the law.
His remarks were made in defense of his confrontation with Naval officer Lieutenant AM Yerima over a land dispute in the Gaduwa area of Abuja.
The contentious plot, designated for Parks and Recreation, was being repurposed by its owner, former Chief of Naval Staff, Awwal Gambo (retd).
Attempts by FCT Administration officials to halt unauthorized land conversion were thwarted as military personnel were deployed to the location, preventing the officials from executing their duties.
Frustrated by these developments, Wike visited the site with his team but was barred from accessing the property by Yerima and the military officers.
This confrontation led to a heated exchange between Wike and the officers, escalating into a national controversy.
Nevertheless, Wike asserted, “I have no regrets about my political opponents. I will continue to ensure they have sleepless nights, whether they belong to PDP, APC, or ADC.
I have no regrets, as long as I am within the law. If you want to bring any ethnicity or color into this, it’s your concern.”
