Wike Inspects Ongoing Road Projects in Abuja, Promises Faster Completion of Wuye and Kuje Roads

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Saturday conducted inspection visits to key ongoing road construction projects across the nation’s capital as part of efforts to ensure timely completion and quality delivery.

Wike visited the Wuye District of the FCT, where he received a detailed project briefing from the contractor, Engr. Mohamed Eldaros, Managing Director of Arab Contractors, the firm handling the project.

Engr. Eldaros disclosed that about 37% of the Wuye road network has been completed, including all associated infrastructures. He noted that apart from the interchange bridge, there are two additional river bridges within the Wuye area.

He added that technical substations have been established to provide power, while telecom and water supply systems are already in place.
“The road marking is currently ongoing, which is the final phase of the project,” Eldaros stated.

He further explained that 60% of the overall work has been achieved, adding that with continued funding and government support, the remaining 40% would be completed within 20 months.
“With the right support, we can complete the rest of the project in less than two years. We have already handed over this critical point,” he assured.

In a related development, Minister Wike also inspected the ongoing construction of the road linking Airport Road to Kuje Area Council, describing the project as critical to easing movement between Abuja’s city center and its outskirts.

According to Eldaros, the road is designed as a two-lane carriageway with service lanes, making a total of five lanes, and is projected to be completed by June 2026.
“We can promise you that by June next year, with the support we are receiving and the coming dry season, this project will be completed,” he added.

Wike commended the contractors for their progress and restated his commitment to improving Abuja’s infrastructure and ensuring residents enjoy a world-class road network.
