A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Obidient Movement member, Dickson Iroegbu, has alleged that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, now sees himself as bigger than President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Prime Time on Arise Television, Iroegbu claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC), under President Tinubu, empowered Wike in a way that allowed him to weaken the PDP and expand his political influence.
According to Iroegbu, Wike was positioned to undermine the opposition, and having largely succeeded, now behaves as though no authority can challenge him, particularly in Rivers State. He argued that statements credited to Wike suggest a belief that he alone determines political outcomes in the state.
Iroegbu warned that such concentration of power poses a threat to Nigeria’s democracy, adding that internal political conflicts could awaken public resistance and restore democratic balance in the country.
