Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, has revealed he is closely monitoring developments in Oyo State PDP, emphasizing his commitment to the party’s survival and unity. Speaking at the 105th PDP NEC meeting in Abuja, Wike dismissed claims of intimidation, asserting that legal battles within the party have collapsed and the Caretaker Committee must be recognised.
The statement comes amid ongoing tensions following the annulment of a parallel PDP convention in November 2025, organised by the faction aligned with Governor Seyi Makinde and Governor Bala Mohammed. The Federal High Court in Ibadan had earlier nullified the Makinde-Bala convention, siding with Wike’s faction.
Wike clarified that his focus is solely on ensuring PDP’s strength and continuity, insisting that no internal threats or judicial disputes can derail the party’s course. The comments signal his continued oversight over Oyo PDP affairs, reinforcing the legitimacy of the Caretaker Committee and aiming to stabilise the state chapter ahead of future political contests.
