The National Leader of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has revealed that Peter Obi joined the African Democratic Congress to pursue its presidential ticket ahead of the next general election.
Tanko said the former Anambra State governor remains one of Nigeria’s most popular political figures and believes his entry into the ADC will strengthen opposition unity nationwide. He dismissed concerns over recent defections by some South East governors to the ruling party, insisting that Obi’s appeal goes beyond party structures.
According to Tanko, electoral victories are determined by the masses, not political office holders. He stressed that Nigerians are demanding genuine change and credible leadership, qualities he believes Obi represents. Tanko added that the growing political awareness among voters means governors can no longer dictate voting outcomes.
