The Nollywood industry is in mourning following the death of veteran actor Prince Oyewole Olowomojuore, popularly known as Baba Gebu.
Nollywood actor Kunle Afod announced Baba Gebu’s passing on Instagram.
Afod expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the movie star.
In a heartfelt post, Afod called Baba Gebu a great legend, noting his passing on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, after an undisclosed illness.
Sharing photos of the late actor, Kunle Afod prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
He wrote, “It saddens my heart as I announce the passing away of our great legend, a great actor who passed away this evening after a brief illness… BABA GEBU may your soul rest in peace …”
Baba Gebu enjoyed a long and distinguished career in Nigerian cinema, particularly in Yoruba-language films, contributing to numerous significant productions.
In 2024, he publicly addressed his wife’s death, explaining that returning to acting helped him cope with depression.
Many Nollywood actors, including Afod, supported him in his efforts to continue his work in the industry.
