The United States has issued a stern warning to foreigners who celebrate or trivialize the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. This comes as officials revealed that online commentators from Germany, Brazil, the UK, South Africa, and Latin America are currently under scrutiny.
Kirk, 31, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot dead on Wednesday while addressing students at Utah Valley University.
US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau stated on 𝕏 that he has instructed consular officials to monitor social media comments and take action against those who are “praising, rationalizing, or making light” of the tragic event.
Landau expressed his disgust at the reactions on social media, emphasizing that “foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country.” He encouraged the public to report such comments to the State Department to ensure the safety of American citizens.
In a symbolic gesture, Landau shared an image parodying the Batman signal, replacing the bat with the eagle from the US Great Seal, captioned “El Quitavisas,” which translates to “The Visa Remover.”
Meanwhile, US authorities have confirmed the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from southern Utah in connection with Kirk’s murder. Reports indicate that Robinson confessed to his father before being turned in by a family minister.
“Somebody very close to him turned him in. The person was involved with law enforcement, but was a person of faith, a minister, and brought him to a US Marshal who was fantastic,” stated US President Donald Trump, as quoted by Reuters.
