The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has ordered Msssrs Infiouest International Limited, the contractor handling the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano highway, to expedite work and deliver the project within record time.
Umahi gave the directive after a meeting with Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and the contractor in Abuja. The Minister emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu places high priority on the completion of the strategic highway and has approved weekly project monitoring to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
According to Umahi, Lot 1 of the project was awarded at ₦252 billion, while Lot 2, spanning 164 kilometers in Kaduna State, costs ₦502 billion, bringing the total cost to ₦754 billion. He instructed the contractor to increase work zones between Jere and Kaduna and deploy more equipment and manpower.
“The President is deeply concerned about completing this road. The standard will match the quality of the coastal highway, and the North will never forget this administration’s commitment to equitable development,” Umahi assured.
Governor Uba Sani, in his remarks, expressed satisfaction with the progress and professionalism of the project team, describing Umahi as “a rare gem in public service.” He emphasized that the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano road is a vital corridor linking 12 northern states, boosting trade and mobility across regions.
