A disturbing incident has thrown Nigeria’s legal community into shock as a newly sworn-in female lawyer has been kidnapped while returning from the Call to Bar ceremony in Abuja.
The incident was made public by a colleague of the victim, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @RhaveOfficial, who raised an alarm about the abduction.
According to him, the young lawyer and her sister were attacked on their way back home after the three-day Call to Bar ceremony held from September 23 to 25, 2025, where 4,437 new lawyers were admitted into the Nigerian Bar.
In his tweet, @RhaveOfficial disclosed that the kidnappers are demanding a ₦20 million ransom for the release of the victims.
“My friend and colleague has been kidnapped on her way home from the Call To Bar ceremony. Please we need help. There’s a 20 million naira ransom on her and her sister. @PoliceNG @NBAYLFOfficial @DeleFarotimi,” he posted.
The incident has sparked widespread concern on social media, with many Nigerians calling on security agencies and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to act swiftly to secure her release.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Police Force has yet to issue an official statement regarding the abduction.
