Internationally acclaimed Afrobeat star, Tiwa Savage, has moved to clarify her recent controversial statement where she expressed a willingness to become a second wife, attributing the remark to deep-seated frustration and past emotional trauma.
The 45-year-old singer initially made the comment during an appearance on the American podcast ‘Air Service,’ where she lamented the lack of eligible suitors. “If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married… So, I don’t know. Maybe I can be a second wife,” she had stated.
However, in a new clarification, Savage insists her words were taken out of context and that she has no genuine desire for a polygamous marriage. The mother of one revealed that her painful past experiences with love, including her highly publicized first marriage, have left her emotionally scarred. She rhetorically questioned the benefit of being a sole wife, stating, “I was a first wife, where did that get me?”
Despite the earlier musing, Savage firmly emphasized, “It’s not my choice, though. I don’t want to [be a second wife].” She concluded by hinting at undisclosed personal struggles, noting that revealing her full truth would lead to her being “dragged” on social media, leaving fans to speculate about the deeper issues behind her candid confession.
