Tinubu Hails Nigerian Stars For Dominating 9th AFRIMA Awards

President Bola Tinubu has applauded Nigerian artistes for their outstanding achievements at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held in Lagos from January 7–11, 2026.

Nigerian stars shone brightly, with Rema winning Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in West Africa, and Best African RnB & Soul. Burna Boy bagged Album of the Year, Shallipopi won Song of the Year and Best Collaboration, while Phyno, Qing Madi, and Yemi Alade also clinched top honours. Legendary awards went to Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye.

Tinubu described their success as a testament to Nigeria’s creative talent and resilience, noting that it projects the nation’s culture, strengthens youth influence, and boosts the creative economy. He commended Lagos State for hosting a world-class event, further cementing Nigeria’s position as Africa’s entertainment capital. The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and growth of the creative sector, highlighting music, fashion, and film as key drivers of jobs, tourism, and economic development.
