Tinubu Awaits Senate on Ambassadorial List

A fresh list of ambassador-designates has been submitted to President Bola Tinubu.

According to sources, President Tinubu is considering the timing for forwarding the list to the Senate, as reported by Punch.

All security and background checks on the nominees have reportedly been completed, and the list is awaiting the President’s approval before being submitted to the Senate for screening.

“The list is ready. It’s now with the President, and it’s up to him,” a senior official stated on Tuesday.

“All those security checks, they are done with. But he has not mentioned when he wants to send it to the Senate,” the source clarified.

Another official indicated that the appointments would be staggered, with envoys to “major partner countries” being announced first, followed by others.

“He cannot announce all the ambassadors at once,” the official explained, adding, “It is only those we intend to send to our key partner countries that will be announced first. The main reason for the delay is financial. A large amount of money is needed to settle these ambassadors. So, we will send out those few ambassadors first and then others later.”
