RCCG General Overseer Accuses Presidential Aides of Misleading the President on Insecurity
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has raised a critical alarm, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is being fed inaccurate briefings on the true state of the nation’s security.
Speaking during the church’s November Holy Ghost Service, the revered cleric expressed deep concern over a recent statement from the Presidency which claimed that security had significantly improved and that Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) had returned to their homes. Pastor Adeboye, who affectionately referred to the President as his “in-law,” strongly disputed this narrative.
He declared, “I almost spoke out last month when I heard the speech from my in-law, the President… When I heard him say that all is well now and that displaced people have returned to their villages, I almost said that the person who wrote that speech for my President, my in-law, does not like him.”
The man of God suggested that if the President had reviewed the speech, then the only logical conclusion is that “there are several people around my beloved in-law who are not telling him the truth.” He pointed to the recent killing of a traditional ruler as evidence that the situation on the ground contradicts the reassuring official statements.
While clarifying that he was not apportioning blame, as the security challenges predated the current administration, Pastor Adeboye, an applied mathematician, emphasized his desire for solutions. He proposed a two-pronged approach: the government should use diplomatic methods to secure a “100-day grace” period from former US President Donald Trump, and the new Service Chiefs should be given a three-month ultimatum to perform or resign.
Citing Newton’s Law of Motion, he assured the congregation that a force for change would compel peace to return to Nigeria, affirming that the persistent prayers of the faithful would not be in vain.
