Veteran Nollywood actress, Peju Ogunmola, has broken her silence following the tragic death of her only son, Ayomikun Omobolanle.
The actress, who is married to fellow veteran actor Sunday Omobolanle (popularly known as Papi Luwe), lost her son in Ibadan after a brief illness, according to a statement released by the family’s spokesperson, Yemi Amodu.
Amodu debunked viral rumours that Ayomikun died from a bathroom accident or domestic mishap, clarifying that the young man passed away peacefully after a short illness.
After weeks of mourning, Peju took to Instagram to share an emotional note of gratitude, revealing her intention to return to the movie scene.
“A new month, a new dawn. The past months have been heavy, but your love, prayers, and condolences have carried me through the storm. Today I rise, stronger, grateful, and ready to embrace my passion again. The screens have missed me… and I’m back, doing what I love most,” she wrote.
The post has drawn an outpouring of love and encouragement from fans and colleagues alike, including Dele Odule, Ronke Odusanya, Fausat Balogun, Bimbo Oshin, Ebun Oloyede, Olaiya Igwe, and Fali Werepe, who earlier visited the family to offer condolences.
Daughter of the late theatre legend Kola Ogunmola, Peju says she is now ready to return to acting with renewed strength and gratitude.
