Terror at Dawn: Bandits Storm Mosques and Villages in Zamfara and Kaduna, Abduct Worshippers and Kill Residents

Fresh waves of insecurity have gripped the Northwest as bandits launched coordinated attacks in Zamfara and Kaduna States on Sunday morning, abducting worshippers and leaving multiple casualties in their wake.

According to reports, the Zamfara attack occurred in Dansadau town during the early morning Subhi prayer, when armed gunmen invaded a mosque and kidnapped several worshippers.

Security analyst Bakatsine revealed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

“This morning, bandits attacked worshippers during Subhi prayer in Dansadau, Zamfara State, abducting several. Around 6 a.m., they also struck Wakeh in Kaduna State, killing and injuring residents.”

In a related strike, Wakeh village in Kaduna State came under fire around 6 a.m. Armed bandits reportedly stormed the community, shooting sporadically and killing and injuring residents. Some victims are feared dead, while others are receiving treatment for injuries.

The incidents have once again highlighted the worsening insecurity in the Northwest, where coordinated bandit operations continue to wreak havoc despite military deployments and government assurances.

As at the time of filing this report, security agencies are yet to issue an official statement regarding the twin attacks.
