Tension in Kebbi: PDP Unveils Congress Timetable as APC Suspends Pro-Malami Councillor

The political atmosphere in Kebbi State is heating up as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) officially begins preparations for its Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses.

Addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi, PDP’s State Publicity Secretary, Sani Dododo, confirmed that nomination forms have been distributed across all 250 wards for aspirants.

According to him, the Ward Congress will hold on September 13, the Local Government Congress on September 20, and the State Congress on September 27, 2025. He assured party members of a transparent process, noting that an election appeal committee will be set up after each congress to handle complaints.

Dododo emphasized that a level playing field has been created, urging aspirants to route concerns through their respective local government chairmen.

Kebbi State is in North-West, Nigeria.

Pro-Malami Councillor Suspended

Meanwhile, political tension flared in Bunza Local Government as a councillor, Ibrahim Dan-Sabo, was suspended for six months over alleged insubordination and disloyalty.

Dan-Sabo, who represents Sabon Birnin Ward, is a known ally of former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. He was recently attacked alongside Malami’s entourage by political thugs.

Council leader, Nasiru Usman, announced the suspension, stating that Dan-Sabo repeatedly defied directives and ignored multiple warnings. He stressed that the APC values discipline and expects loyalty to party leadership.

Observers believe his close ties to Malami may have influenced the suspension, adding more drama to Kebbi’s already tense political scene.
